Te Hautonga Whakataetae Kapahaka mō ngā Kura Tuarua Nō ngā Rohe o Murihiku/Otākou 2023

We are excited to announce a collaboration with Mīharo and the Murihiku Māori Secondary Schools Teachers Trust (MMSSTT) for "Te Hautonga" 2023!

Te Hautonga is a full day event that showcased the best Kapa Haka that Murihiku and Ōtākou had to offer, with the top two kura proceeding on to Nationals.

The event took place at the ILT Stadium Southland on Sunday, 20th August. If you missed it, don't worry! A replay of the entire day's performances and activities is now available. Enjoy the rich tradition and culture displayed by talented performers from the region!

E te iwi, here are the results from Te Hautonga, the secondary kapa haka competition in Murihiku / Invercargill


1st - He Waka Kōtuia (Kings/Queens)
2nd - Te Wharekura o Arowhenua
3rd - Hēmi Hākena (James Hargest)


He Waka Kōtuia and Te Wharekura o Arowhenua will be heading to the Kapa Haka secondary school nationals 2024.
